Summary: Working with or without supervision in performing aircraft inspections, repair and maintenance in accordance with all regulations to insure airworthiness. All work performed will consistently comply with company policy and procedures.
Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school and a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence and reports. Complete documentation and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: Computer literacy is required to access and utilize on-line manuals and resource materials.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Maintain a current and valid Airframe and Power plant Certificate from the FAA. Maintain a valid motor vehicle driver’s license.
Other Qualifications: Must be able to work a 5/2 (Monday through Friday) shift. Position is based in Broussard, LA, however, incumbent might be required to travel to and from RLC’s airbases along the Gulf coast on occasion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work with supervisors in performing aircraft inspections and repairs.
- Maintenance and modification work on Bell 206B, 206L, 407 and Sikorsky S76 aircrafts.
- Repair body or structure of aircraft according to specifications.
- Reinstall repaired or replacement parts for subsequent riveting or welding, using clamps and wrenches.
- Read work orders, blueprints, and specifications or examine sample or damaged parts or structures to determine repairs or fabrication procedures and sequence of operations.
- Locate and mark dimension and reference lines on defective or replacement parts, using templates, scribes, compass, and steel rule.
- Cure bonded structures, using portable or stationary curing equipment.
- Communicate with other workers to fit and align parts or expedite processing of repair parts.
- Clean, strip, prime and sand structural surfaces and materials prior to bonding.
- Repair or fabricate defective section or parts, using metal fabricating machines, saws, shears, brakes, rollers, shrinkers, stretchers, and grinders.
- Remove or cut out defective parts or drill holes to gain access to internal defects or damages, using drill and punch.
- Perform clerical functions related to the job requirements.
- Complete all work in a timely manner.
- Protect, secure and preserve company owned tools, equipment and property.
- Perform all of his duties in a safe manner as to prevent injury to himself, other company employees, customers, and equipment.
